Mable I. Loomis

Mable I. Loomis, 83, formerly of rural Keosauqua, died at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 2, 1987, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

She was born Jan. 5, 1904, in San Jose, Ill. to James and Stella Poucher Groves. Her family moved to Van Buren County when she was a child, and she later taught school in Van Buren County. She attended Christ United Methodist Church in Douds. She had lived in Heritage Acres Nursing Home in Cedar Rapids the past five years. She married Glen H. Loomis July 21, 1926. He died in 1972.

She is survived by a daughter, Betty Boyer of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Dean and Lloyd of Mount Vernon; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jessie Smith of Fairfield.

The service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, 1987 at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds. Burial was in Pittsburg Cemetery.

A memorial has been established.
