Donald T. Shelman

Donald T. Shelman, 73, of Hillsboro, died 11:15 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15, 1987, at University Hospitals, Iowa City.

Born July 27, 1914, in Jefferson County, he was the son of Otto r. and Birdie Teeter Shelman. He married Ruth Cummings Aug. 3, 1958.

He lived most of his life in the Hillsboro community. He attended the University of Kansas and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a farmer and a carpenter. He was a member of Hillsboro Baptist Church and the Richard Hoaglin Post No. 610 of the American Legion.

Surviving are his wife; one sister, Louise Hott, Cedar Falls; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the home Friday evening.

The body has been cremated. A memorial service for Mt. Shelman will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hillsboro Baptist Church with the Rev. Ed Newman officiating. A private committal service will be in the Vale Cemetery, north of Bonaparte.

A memorial has been established. Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, is in charge of arrangements.
