Syrus K. Garrett

Syrus K. Garrett, son of Maynard and Annie Brown Garrett, was born December 17 1962 in Ottumwa and departed this life early the morning of Friday, November 20, 1987 in an auto accident north of Eldon.

He grew up in Selma and Eldon and attended Cardinal Community Schools. He previously worked for Lloyd Teeter, Eldon painting contractor and was currently a driver-salesman for Pat Sheedy Distributing Co. of Ottumwa.

He married Susan Harbour December 23, 1982 in Selma.

Surviving are his wife and a stepson, Travis, Ottumwa, his mother and stepfather, Annie and Max Parcell, Eldon, with whom he was living, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Brown of Ottumwa and Mrs. Hazel Canny of Eldon, a brother, Carl, Selma, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, grandfather, step-grandfather, a brother, Joshua Jay and an infant sister, Anna.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 24, 1987 at the Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds, with Rev. David Albert officiating. Interment was in Iowaville Cemetery near Selma. A memorial was established and gifts may be sent in care of the funeral home.
