Edwin H. Menke

Edwin H. Menke, 56, of West Point, died 8:02 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30, 1987, at Fort Madison Community Hospital.

Born March 17, 1931, in St. Paul, he was the son of Bernard and Eleanor Krueger Menke. He married Doretta Meierotto. She died March 8, 1980. He married Janet McGregor Aug. 8, 1981, in Farmington.

He was a lifelong resident of the St. Paul and West Point areas, and was a retired farmer. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, West Point, the Knights of Columbus, Houghton, the Farm Bureau, the Mental Health Board of Lee County and the West Point Alcoholics Anonymous club for 16 years. He was also a former officer for Lincoln Center, Burlington.

Surviving are his wife, West Point; four sons, Edwin C. Menke Jr., West Point, Jeffrey W. Menke, Peoria, Ill., Ted G. Menke, St. Paul, and Michael Blint, West Point; three daughters, Mrs. Donna M. (Mark) Hansen, LeClaire, Jan M. Menke, Montrose, and Lori L. Blint, West Point; two brothers, Willis Menke and LeRoy Menke, both of St. Paul; five sisters, Mrs. Lorene (Joseph) Fedler, West Point, Mrs. Lavern (Bernard) Jacobsmeier and Mrs. Florence (Clyde) Thompson, Houghton, Viola Hunold, Blossom, Texas, and Mrs. Marilyn (Donald) Meyerhoff, Melverne; and nine grandchildren.

The rosary will be recited 3 p.m. today with a Knights of Columbus parish rosary at 7:30 p.m. at the Link Funeral Home, West Point.

The service for Mr. Menke will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, West Point, with the Rev. Gerald Stouvenel officiating. burial will be in St. James Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for St. Mary's Catholic Church, West Point.
