Harriett Duke

Harriett L. Duke, 74, of Route 2, Danville, died at 8:20 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2, 1987, at Van Buren County Hospital, Keosauqua.

Born Nov. 16, 1912, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Clarence and Anna Broeg Lavine. She married Kenneth J. Duke Sr. Jan. 1, 1931, in Burlington.

She had worked at the Danville Nursing Home. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, the Women's Circle and the Congregational United Church of Christ, Danville.

Surviving are her husband; two sons, Kenneth Duke Jr., Keosauqua, and Larry Duke, Sperry; two daughters, Rosie Thye, Ogallala, Nebr., and Becky Cool, Oregon, Mo.; one brother, Charles Lavine, Burlington; one sister, Eileen Meck, Burlington; and 11 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Lunning Chapel.

The service for Mrs. Duke will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lunning Chapel with Elder Alan Ourth officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Danville.

A memorial has been established.
