Carl W. Hayes

Carl W. Hayes, 86, died at 5:30 a.m. Nov. 28, 1987, at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua.

He was born Aug. 29, 1901, in New Boston, Ill., to John and Mary Johnson Hayes. He lived in Muscatine, near Selma, in Milton and Douds, and had lived at the Good Samaritan Center for the past two years. He had retired from the Dexter Company in Fairfield. He married Mildred McNatton in 1945. She died in 1983.

He is survived by two sons, Thomas of Elsberry, Mo. and Frank of Keosauqua; a daughter, Pamela Besco of Ottumwa; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and a sister, Edna Oakes of Muscatine.

The services were held Monday, Nov. 30, 1987 at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, the Rev. Lester Terlouw officiating. Burial was in Leando Cemetery near Douds.

Memorials may be left at the funeral home.
