VIOLA MAY STRAIT

Viola May Strait was born November 11, 1886 at Lewistown, Mo., daughter of Joseph and Sarah Pruett and died Feb. 27, 1976 at the Good Samaritan Home at Keosauqua, Iowa at the age of 89.

She was married to Samuel R. Strait of Lebanon, Iowa on April 27, 1909. He died in July, 1955.

Mr. and Mrs. Strait lived in the Troy area until 1921 when they moved to a farm east of Milton. They retired to Milton in 1947. Mrs. Strait was in the Scotland County Nursing Home at Memphis, Mo. for two years, and has resided at the Good Samaritan Home in Keosauqua since November, 1972.

Viola is survived by two sons, William C. of Milton, and Maurice L. of Golden, Colo. and one daughter, Marietta Schafer of Milton, 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one sisters, Rilla Lemmons of Ottumwa, Iowa.

One son, Matthew D. lost his life serving in the Air Force in 1942. The Russell-Strait Legion Post No. 483 was named in his honor.

She was a member of the Milton Methodist Church, Legion Auxiliary and the last charter member of Milton Federated Woman's Club.

Viola will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her many interests helped her to be a good neighbor, devoted church worker and a friend to all.
