C. LaVERNE OVERSTREET

C. LaVerne Overstreet, son of Lester and Elizabeth McElroy Overstreet, was born on March 8, 1913 at Biggsville, Ill., and departed this life on Thursday, April 13, 1978, at Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield, at the age of 65.

On September 1, 1931, he married Frances Rankin at Aledo, Ill. They farmed near Raritan, Ill. until moving to their present farm southwest of Cantril in 1946.

Remaining to cherish his memory are his faithful wife, Frances, their five sons, Rex of Keosauqua; Ronald of Mt. Ayr; Eugene of Bloomfield; Byron of Des Moines; and Burton of New Sharon; their two daughters, Mrs. Donna Augspurger of Milton and Mrs. Dolores Hannam of Tacoma, Wash.; his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Overstreet of Raritan, Ill.; and 18 grandchildren. Also are five brothers, Raymond and Francis, both of Raritan, Ill., Lester and Paul, both of Monmouth, Ill.; other relatives and many friends.

His father, a brother, Wayne, and a sister, Violet, preceded him in death. In addition to his farming him in death. In addition to his farming and livestock raising, Pete was active in the community, having served seven years as a member of the Van Buren County Board of Supervisors.

He was a member of the Milton United Methodist Church, and will be remembered as a devoted husband and father, a good neighbor and friend.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 15, 1978, at 2 P.M. at the Milton United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Harold Harryman officiating. Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery at Cantril. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.
