Roy M. Smith
Roy M. Smith, son of Wallace E. and Mary S. Smith, was born in Bonaparte, Iowa, August 15, 1889, and died at Sacramento, California, Feb. 24, 1915, aged twenty-five years, six months and nine days.
He attended the Bonaparte schools, after which he took a course of civil engineering at the Iowa State College at Ames, also at the Montana State College at Butte. Since 1911 he has been employed as civil engineer and for the past two years has been located at Sacramento, Calif., and vicinity.
He became seriously ill of typhoid fever a few days ago. The relatives here were notified, and his brother, E.C., started for California on Feb. 22, reaching there the day after his decease.
The remains will reach here Tuesday or Wednesday and the funeral services will be held from the old home with Rev. L.T. Hughes officiating on Wednesday or Thursday afternoon.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Folson, Cal., and the Masons will have charge of the services at the cemetery.
He leaves one sister and two brothers, Mrs. Mary Sanford, E.C., and Elmer E. One brother, Wallace, died, at the age of five years.
He was a most excellent youong man, strong physically, morally, and intellectually. The news of his very sudden death comes as a great shock to his many friends here, who join in extending sympathy to the members of the family.
