Wouter Burgers and Gerrit Mekking may have been halfbrothers. Their mother was Willemina/Willemijntje Mekking.
On the ship's manifest Gerrit Mekking states that his final destination is "Morris IA", to "brother in law Wolter Berges". The description of their relation is incorrect, but Gerrit may not have known how to describe their relationship in English :-)!
Which means that Wouter Burgers became Maria van Beek's uncle when Gerrit Mekking married Antje van Beek. Frans and Maria were probably engaged to be married when they immigrated and therefore Frans called Wouter his uncle.
