I have found some information on Wouter/Watler Burgers.
In the Sioux County death records 1928 #138 Wouter Burgers age 77 died 7 Sep 1928 at Maurice, Iowa. In the 20 Sep 1928 Volksvriend Dutch newspaper of Orange City there is an article The states he left a wife and seven children.
In the 1900 census of Sherman Tsp, Sioux County Iowa; Walter Burgers age 44 b. May 1856 in Holland came in 1892, wife Henrietta age 38 born Feb 1842 in Holland; children Garret age 17, Minnie age 15, Winnie age 14, Stephen age 12, John age 7, Tillie age 5, Alace age 3 and Williamg age 1.
In the 1920 Iowa census of Lincoln Tsp, Sioux county, Walter Burgers age 65, born about 1855 Netherlands, wife Henrietta age 58, William age 17, and Gertude age 14.
In the 1925 IA State census; Wouter Burgers born abt 1856 in Neth. lived in Sioux Center, Iowa, wife Cornelia Burgers age 60, his parents were Gradus Burgers and Wilhelmina Mekking.
Found the marriage on www.genlias.nl of Wouter Burgers (son of Gradus Burgers and Willemina Mekking) age 26 born at Wageningen married at Ede Gelderland on Apr 11, 1882 to Hendrika Bos age 20 born at Ede daughter of Steven Bos and Hermina van Manen.
On page 137 Reg. of Marriages Sioux County Frans VanderBroek of Maurice, 26 yrs, born Neth. son of Frank Vander Broek and Antje Vande Steeg, married Mary Van Beek age 22, of Maurice born Neth, to Peter Van Beek and Antje Van Beek on Jan 3, 1894 Orange City married by A. Bolks.
So with the surnames of the parents of all involved at this point I don't see the connection for Frans to call Wouter Burger 'uncle'. Maybe I am missing something. But I do believe this is the family you are seeking in Wouter Burgers. Hope I have been helpful.
