In Response To: Menning family line (Wanda Spainhower)

The Menning or Mennink family that is in our GSCGS files came from Zuidwoulde Drente Netherlands in Apr of 1871 and went to Quebec Canada first then to Alto Wisconsin, then to NW Iowa .
The names were
Jan Seine Mennink's son
Seine Jan Mennink later Menning b. 1827 in Zuidwoulde Drente Netherlands
And his descendants.
No mention of German roots with this family.
So I don't think they are related, at least not closely, especially since the name appears to be Mennink in earlier times.
