Mr. Roy Slice, age 91, of Hull, passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2022, at the Hegg Health Center in Rock Valley.

There will be a funeral service on Wednesday, January 19, at 10:00am, at the Doon United Reformed Church in Doon. The Rev. John Vermeer will officiate. Interment will follow a time of lunch and fellowship, at the South Dakota Veterans Cemetery near Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Arrangements are being completed by the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Roy Warren was born on September 27, 1930, in Sterling, Colorado, the son of Roy Charles and Sadie Tessibel (Krause) Slice. He grew up in Sterling, where he graduated from high school before enlisting in the United States Navy.

On September 19, 1952, he was united in marriage to Beatrice Carol Reed, in Berkeley, California. Following his honorable discharge in 1955, he enrolled at Colorado A&M, where he earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. After college, he and Beatrice moved to Livermore, California, where Roy worked for the Sandia Lab. He later accepted a position at EG&G Inc., in San Ramon, California, and Los Alamos, New Mexico. He retired from the Los Alamos National Lab and he and Beatrice moved back to Livermore until 2016, when they moved to Hull to be closer to their oldest son, Roy, and his family.

Mr. Slice was a member of the Doon United Reformed Church. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and using his engineering background for various projects around the house.

Survivors include his wife of more than 69 years, Beatrice, of Hull; four children and their spouses, Dr. Roy and Elizabeth Slice; Carol and Matt Murphy; Mary and Miguel Pineda; and Lee and Sue Slice; thirteen grandchildren, Thomas (Riley) Slice; Laurel (Stephen) Evertse; Christopher (Courtney) Slice; Kathleen (Jorden) Saavedra; Philip Slice; Kevin Slice; Jonathan Slice; Patrick (Hayley Totten) Murphy; Danny (Cristina) Pineda; Christina Pineda; Sarah (Essa) Yacoub; Joshua (Melissa Flowers) Slice; and Paul Slice; ten great-grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley Trum.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and her husband, Gwen and Bill Hammond; and a brother-in-law, Paul Trum.
