Miss Anna Bushby Died Suddenly

The death of Miss Anna Bushby last Wednesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walker Bushby, three miles south of Ireton, was a shock to her many friends, most of them not knowing that she was ill. Although her health for some time had been poorly, yet no one realized that her condition was serious. She had been up as usual most of the day, eating at the table with the rest of the family, and as she was lying on a couch the death angel suddenly touched her and she was gone. Her death was caused by a blood clot on the brain along with other complications.

Anna Bushby was born at Elizabeth, Ill., June 4, 1869, where her early years were spent. She came to Sioux county with her parents in 1884 and they settled on a farm that has been her home practically all the years since she came here. Miss Bushby spent many of her years caring for her aged parents. She was a woman of deep convictions and fine character and she was ever ready to help where help was needed.

She leaves one sister, Mrs. Daisy Worcester of Rigby, Idaho, and four brothers, Will and Walker Bushby of Ireton; Chris Bushby of Struble; and Aylmer of Corvina, Calif. She was a member of the Methodist church.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Methodist church with Rev. Albert Miller in charge. A quartette composed of L. D. Satterlee, Miss Madge Satterlee, Mrs. Fern Hooper and Rev. Miller, sang favorite hymns of the deceased. A large gathering of neighbors and friends joined the relatives in paying a last farewell to the departed. Burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery.

Her death certificate (informant G. W. Bushby) has Annie Bushby, single, born June 4, 1869 in Elizabeth, Ill.; parents William Bushby, born in England, and Sarah Bateman, born in Elizabeth, Ill.; occupation, house maid; died in rural Ireton at 4 p.m. March 13, 1940; cause, coronary embolism; no other conditions noted.
