At Maurice, Mrs. G. Schouten, aged 82 years and 8 months. The funeral will take place on Friday at two o'clock in the church of Rev. Straks in Maurice: She was buried at the Cemetery in Sioux Center.
Mrs. Schouten lived at Sioux Center for years. About 54 years ago she came to America from the Netherlands with her husband. They first lived in Alto Wis for about 14 years. And for the last 40 years they lived at Sioux Center for 16 years on the farm now inhabited by B. Schenk and in town for about 24 years. More than twenty years ago, Mrs. Schouten's widow. The last year she lived with her daughter in Maurice. The deceased is survived by three children; Willem, Bert, and Mrs. Chas. Jansma, there are 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Aartje was born 23 Oct 1842 Putten, Gelderland Netherlands, her parents were Gijsbert Dirksen Van Voorst and Bija Wolbersen van den Hoorn. Six children were born to Gerrit and Aartje – Willem 1870, Everdina 1871-1915, Teunisje ‘Tillie’ 1875-1903, William 1876-1958, Bernardes ‘Bert’ 1878-1954 and Anna 1884-1945.
