Mr. H. Boeyink received a message last week from old Mr. Berend Kastein, a brother of his wife, in which he stated that he was at a homestead in Montana. The old gentleman is already 83 years old.

On Sunday morning a telegraphic message arrived here that Mr. B. Kasteyn died in Montana at the age of 82. He leaves behind seven children, namely Mrs. R. Kooi, in Lebanon: Mrs. Niemeyer, at Hull; Mrs. S. Campagne, Mrs C. Schelling and Mrs. John Klein, over here; Mrs. T. In'Veld in Oak Harber, WA and Roelof Kasteyn in Doon. Mrs. H. Boeyink and Mrs. J. van’t Hull are sisters of the deceased. "The remains will be transferred here to be ordered here to the earth."
The funeral will take place on Thursday afternoon at half past one. After the funeral a service will be held in the Chr Ref. Church, start at two o'clock.

He was married to Fredrika Ten Brink 1840-1896, His children were – Grada 1869-1935, Dena 1871-1942, Elizabeth 1873-1952, Hendrika 1876-1930, Mary 1879-1939, Ella 1882-1949 and Roelof ‘Ralph’ 1886-1973. In 1901 Bernard married Miss Cornelia A. J. Leenbeek 1834-.
Bernard's parents were Roelof Kastein and Elisabeth Ter Beest.
