Obituary notice
It pleased the Lord to take away from our side on the 21st of July our dearly beloved husband and father, Gerrit Jan Wiekamp, aged 65 years and 6 months. Cancer tore away his life force, but the Lord gave him grace to bear his cross with patience and patience. His departure was peace, for he cried to the Savior, and it eases our sorrow.

Thank you to all who assisted us so sorely in the days of affliction. The Widow, Trijntje Wiekamp-Westra and Children, and spouses and Grandchildren. July 27, 1917

Last Week Friday died here of Cancer Mr. J. Wiekamp. The deceased had been suffering from this for quite some time and last spring it was already expected that he would not be able to make it long. The deceased had reached the age of 65 years and 6 months. The remains were sent to Bemis SD. Brought to be buried there. Our condolences are with the widow and the children.

Research Note: From a family report on line (done by others) Gerrit Jan Wiekamp was born 20 Jan 1853 Winterswijk Gelderland, Netherlands died 20 Jul 1917 West Branch tsp., Sioux Center, IA son of Gerrit Willem Wiekamp 1819 – 1885 and Theodora Oonk 1810. His wife was #1. Hendrika Wiekamp 1856-1893 mother of the children - #2 wife Tryntje Douwes Westra 1860-1931. Children Johann 1876, Gerrit 1878, Hendrika 1882 and William 1888.
