Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Claerbout received word from John Claerbout at St. Cloud, Minn., that his daughter Hazel has died of scarlet fever.

From the Sioux County Index (Hull), May 7, 1937:

The body of Hazel Claerbout, who died at St. Cloud, Minnesota, last February, was brought to Hull last week Friday and buried in Hope cemetery. The remains were accompanied by Mr. John Claerbout and family.

OBITUARIES—Hazel Claerbout

Miss Hazel Claerbout, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John C., 506 Third avenue south, died Monday afternoon at 2:50, her death caused by scarlet fever.

Miss Claerbout was a teacher at Osakis. She taught on Wednesday of the past week, but not feeling well came home on Thursday morning. She was born in Jull [Hull], Iowa, on July 2, 1911. The family moved to St. Cloud in October 1931. She attended the Teachers college three years, graduating in 1934. This was her second year of teaching in Osakis.

Surviving are her parents; a sister, Mrs. Daniel Nelson in Williston, N.D.; a brother, Waldo, Mankato; and a sister and brother, Joyce and James, at home.

A private funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 10:30 o’clock.

Her FindaGrave.com page shows her born 23 July 1911, buried in Hope Cemetery, Hull’ parents John Claerbout (1884-1957) and Clara Marie Emilie Saeger Claerbout (1883-1958); two siblings listed: Gladys Viola Claerbout (1905-1908) and Kathleen Joyce Claerbout McDonnell (1920-1996).
