John Post of Sheldon, who lived here several months last year, is in a serious condition at the Lutheran hospital in Sioux City following an accident last Thursday. A tree which Mr. Post and a friend were felling for firewood, had lodged in the top of another tree. The other man had mounted a ladder to try and dislodge the tree and as Mr. Post stepped under the tree to hold the ladder the tree dislodged and fell, pinning him under it. His ribs were crushed, a leg broken and his back injured so seriously that little hope is held for the injured man's recovery. He is a brother-in-law of Mrs. Jane Slothouber. On Sunday Mr. Gerrit Ruisch took Mrs. Slothouber, Miss Dora and Henry to Sioux City to call on the patient, who was conscious but unable to speak.
