Former Farmer Here Succumbs

Funeral services for Frank Van Dieren, 75, father of Mrs. Arie Vos of Hawarden, who died Thursday [November 1] at his home in Sioux Center, were held there Monday at The Netherlands Reformed church. Rev. C. Hegeman officiated with burial in the Sioux Center community cemetery.

Mr. Van Dieren was born June 19, 1887, in The Netherlands. He married Johanna De Bulten in 1909. The couple came to the United States in 1913 and farmed near Hawarden and Ireton. She died December 16, 1929. In 1936 Mr. Van Dieren married Jennie Post. They retired to Sioux Center in 1950.

Two sons preceded him in death, Henry and Gerrit Van Dieren. Survivors include the widow; a son, Fred, of Ireton; three daughters, Mrs. Vos of Hawarden, Mrs. Henry Kruid of Rock Valley and Mrs. Richard Willams of Bonilla, S.D.; a sister in The Netherlands; a stepdaughter, Miss Henrietta Post of Sioux Center; 18 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

A similar obit in the Sioux Center News (Nov. 8) adds that he died at his home following a heart attack; that burial was under the direction of Co-operative Funeral Home; and that he and his wife immigrated to Sioux County in 1913 and settled on a farm near Sioux Center.
