Obituary For Mr. W. M. Vugteveen

On Saturday, December 11, funeral services were held for William M. Vugteveen at 1:30 p.m. in the home and 2:30 at the Christian Reformed church with Dr. Herman Kuiper officiating. Burial was made at the Valley View cemetery. Mr. Vugteveen died at his home on Wednesday morning, at the age of 59. He had suffered two weeks with an attack of pneumonia.

Mr. Vugteveen was born on October 20, 1889 at Springfield, South Dakota. In the year 1894 he moved to Rock Valley along with his parents, brothers, and sisters. In 1897 he moved to Springfield, South Dakota, and after having lived there for five years, moved back to the Rock Valley area.

In February, 1923, he married Maggie Jabaay, who died in July, 1935. He was engaged in farming until 1938 at which time he moved to Rock Valley. On September 17, 1948 he married Mrs. Christine Van Dieren.

He leaves to mourn his departure his widow, Mrs. Christine Vugteveen and four step-children: Jeanette Van Dieren, Kenneth Van Dieren, John Jabaay and Mrs. Ted Feenstra and the following brothers and sisters: Mr. Case Vugteveen, Mrs. W. C. Kooiman, Mr. Pete Vugteveen, Mrs. Nick Ver Mulm, Mr. Henry M. Vugteveen, Mr. Leen M. Vugteveen and Martha Vugteveen.

Funeral services were held Saturday for William M. Vugteveen at 1:30 at the home and at 2:00 o'clock in the Christian Reformed church with Rev. Dr. Herman Kuyper. Interment was in Valley View Cemetery.

William M. Vugteveen was born October 20, 1889 in Springfield, S.D. and died December 8, 1948 in Rock Valley, Iowa. He moved to Rock Valley in 1894 and two and one half years later moved back to Springfield, S.D., where they lived for five years. They then moved back to Rock Valley. He married Mrs. Maggie Jabaay in February, 1923. She died in July 1935. He lived in Rock Valley the last ten years. He married Mrs. Christine Van Dieren September 17, 1948.

He is survived by the widow and her two children, Jeanette and Kenneth Van Dieren and also two other step children, John Jabaay and Mrs. Ted Feenstra and the following brothers and sisters: Case Vugteveen, Hull; Mrs. W. C. Kooiman, Rock Valley; Peter Vugteveen, Canton, S.D.; Mrs. Nick Ver Mulm, Artesia, Calif; Henry M. Vugteveen, Rock Valley; Leen Vugteveen, Valley Springs, S.D.; Martha Vugteveen, Artesia, California.
