Rites Monday For Mrs. J. Den Hartog Mrs. Jas. Den Hartog sr., nee Siena Den Beste passed away
Friday, Aug. 15 at 1:20 o'clock in the morning following an illness with asthma and dropsy.
Having been ill for sometime, she was confined to bed for only 1 day when death came suddenly. She was born Nov. 9, 1872 lit Pella, la., and was
married to Jas Den Hartog of O. C, on Oct., 19. 189.3, After their marriage the Den Hartogs
lived at Yakima, Wash., 9 years. From there they moved to a farm at Wilson, Minn., and after 4 years they moved to a farm west of O. C , where they continued for 8 years and then retired in O. C. Surviving are her husband and 7 children:
Henry, Cornie, William, John, Arthur and Elmer of O. C , and 1 daughter, Mrs. Lyda Visser,
O. C. Four children preceded her in death: 3 died at an early age and James who passed nway
Feb., 22, 1945. There are 16 grand children and 6 great grandchildren.
Also surviving are 3 brothers: John Den Beste of O. C , Dan Den Beste of Oskaloosa, and William Den Beste of Crawford, Colo., and 1 sister, Mrs. Alice Van Wyk of Hull. There are 5 half-brothers: Fred Den Beste of Sioux Center; Cornie, James, Harry and Ike Den Beste of
Yakima, Wash., and 1 half-sister, Mrs. Elmer Middeling of Yakima.
Funeral services were held at the Den Hartog home and at the First Chr. Ref. Church of
O. C., Monday afternoon. Interment was made at O. C.
