John Van Engen, age 77, of Orange City, died Saturday, April 3,1993 at the Orange City Municipal Hospital.

John was bom May 15,1915 at Alton, the son of John and Tena (Van Roekel) Van Engen. On Oct. 16, 1940, he married Amy Harriet Te Brink at Orange City. They fanned at Sanborn for seven years and then moved to a farm south of Orange City. In June of 1984 they retired into Orange City. Mr. Van Engen was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Orange City.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Geneva and her husband Clifford Korver of Orange City, Beverly and her husband Harris Kaster of George, and Judy of Orange City; seven grandchildren, Bruce Korver, Rhonda and her husband Coby Mohrhauser, Julie Korver, Pam and her husband Doug Krull; and Kristy, Brad and Eric Kaster; and three brothers and six sisters, Gert Baker of Worthington, Minn., Nancy Cuperus and Clazina Vander Veen, both of Sheldon, Johanna Vos of Sibley, Gerrit of Sioux Center, George of Sibley, Albert of Sanborn, Mina Van Kley of Sanborn, and Tina Buysman of Sioux Falls, S.D.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister, Gerrit, Alice, William and Abraham. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 6, at the First Christian Reformed Church in OrangeCity.The Rev. Ralph A. Pontier officiated. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home in Orange Cty.
