Trina Van Engen
September 5, 1900 - January 9, 1997
Trina Van Engen, 96, of Sioux Center, formerly of Ireton, died Thursday, January 9, at the Sioux Center Nursing Home at Sldux Center.. Services were at 2 p.m. Monday, January 13, at the Christian Reformed Church at Ireton, with the,Rev. Gary Luurtsema officiating. Burial was In Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Ireton.

Mrs. Van Engen was born September 5, 1900, at Paterson, New Jersey, to Fred and Gertrude (Vander Tuig) Van Schepen. She moved with her family to a farm near Orange City In 1905 and near Ireton In 1907. She married Edward Van Engen on October 29, 1922, at Ireton. The couple made their home in Ireton. He died October 11, 1974. She continued to live In Ireton until moving to Sioux Center on October 11, 1994.

She was a member of the Christian Reformed Church at Ireton and was an active member of the church circle.

Survivors include seven daughters, Gert and her husband John Sjaarda, and Louise Kaelke, all of Sioux Center. Geneva Hoolsema of Cutlerville. Michigan, Jean and her husband George Veltema of Jenison, Michigan, Joyce and her husband Harold Baker of Maurice, Marlene and her husband the Rev. John Natelborg.'of Grosse Point Park, Michigan, and Carol and her husband Jim Van Wyhe of Ireton; one sister, Tillle Kooiker of Grand Rapids, Michigan; 22 grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 48 greatgrandchildren; 16 step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one step-great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded In death by one son. Glen; an Infant daughter; four sons-in-law, Andy Mars, Tom Smit, Henry Holsema and Roy Kaelke; one granddaughter; one step-grandson; four brothers; and four sisters.
