C. Lee Barks, 93, of Perry, formerly of Orange City, died Tuesday, May 11 in a hospital in Perry. Services were at 9 a.m. Friday in the American Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Dr. Calvin Rynbrandt officiated. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery. Family visitation was from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home with a Masonic service conducted by Floyd Lodge 537 AF&AM at 9 p.m.

Mr. Barks was born April 10, 1889, in Manson. He graduated from Morningside College in 1914 and served in the U.S. Army during World War I. He married Leone Lange June 15, 1921, at Sioux City. She died Jan. 29, 1971. He was president of the Orange City National Bank for 14 years and represented the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. for 35 years. In the fall of 1971, he entered the Rowley Memorial Masonic Home in Perry. He was a columnist for the Perry Daily Chief.

Mr. Barks was a member of the American Reformed Church for more than 60 years, serving in all capacities. He was a member and Past Master of Floyd Lodge 537, AF&AM, former vice president of Board of Trustees of Morningside College, former president of the Orange City Board of Education, former president of the Orange City Library Board. He was a former member of Orange City Chamber of Commerce, the Orange City Tupil Festival Steering Committee, American Legion, Ramblers Club and was the last surviving charter member of the Orange City Lions Club.

Survivors include one daughter, Margaret of Indianapolis, Ind.; one son, Robert of Des Moines; one brother, G. Earl Barks of Belden, Neb. and two grandsons.
