BARKS, LANGE, ARMBRIGHT

Mrs. C. Lee Barks died Jan. 29, in the Orange City Municipal hospital. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, in the American Reformed Church, Orange City, with the Rev. A. Hook officiating. Burial was in the family plot in the Orange City Cemetery.

The former Leone Mae Lange was born March 10, 1893, in Dakota county, Neb., the daughter of Joseph M. and Mary Armbright Lange. She attended country school in Dakota County, Neb., high school in Homer, Neb., Morningside academy and graduated from Morningside college in 1919 with the degree of bachelor of arts.

In college she was a member of the Zetalothean Literary society and its president one year; on junior annual staff; senior class president; Y.M.C.A. cabinet; Agora club board; student council; and played the leading part in [the] senior class play.

Mrs. Barks interrupted her college course to teach one year in the grades in the public school at Ute, Iowa. Following graduation she taught English in the high school at Sac City [Iowa].

She was united in marriage with C. Lee Barks June 15, 1921, at the home of her parents in Sioux City. They made their home in Orange City, Iowa, and have continued to live there ever since.

Survivors are the widower; daughter, Margaret, Administrative Assistant Children's divisions, Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library, Indianapolis, Indiana; son, Robert, vice-president, Data Processing, General United Life Insurance Company, Des Moines; two grandsons. Her daughter, Harriet, was killed in an auto accident in 1927, at the age of five years.

In spite of her physical limitations, she took an active interest in church and community affairs. She was a member of the American Reformed Church of Orange City for 49 years. She belonged to the Orange City Woman's club and was its president one year; the American Legion auxiliary; women's auxiliary of Northwestern college; women's auxiliary of municipal hospital and Orange City Tulip Festival committee. She and her husband also were members of the Orange City Rambler club for 49 years.
