October 10. 1937—December 18, 1998
Adrian Dwayne Van Engen, 61, of Hull died Friday, December 18, at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City. Kansas. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Reformed Church in Hull with the Rev. Verlyn Boone officiating. Burial was in Hope Cemetery. Van Engen was born October 10, 1937, in Sanborn. the son of Abraham "Abe" and Dorothy (Vogel) Van Engen. He was raised in Sheldon and served in the armed forces during the Vietnam War.

He married Betty Jean Van Otterloo on June 21, 1963, in Hull. The couple made their home in Hull. He was employed at Koyker Manufacturing for many years. He later became a partner in C & A Repair, which he then owned and operated.

He was a member of First Reformed Church and American Legion Wegman-Koele Post of Hull. He served as a volunteer fireman in Hull for 30 years and enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, Arlan and Vicki of Overland Park, Kansas; a daughter and her husband, Darla and Michael Peterson of Tulsa, Oklahoma, five grandchildren; and three brothers, Dale of Sibley and Gerald "Joe" and Leslie, both of Sheldon. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Verna Jean Van Der Zwaag.
