Jennie Van Es
December 29, 1907—June 1, 1994
Jennie Van Es, 86, of Orange City, died Wednesday, June 1, at Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City. Services were at VanEtten-Oolman- VanGelder Funeral Home in Orange City on Saturday with the Rev. David Ter Beest officiating. Burial was in Hospers Cemetery.Van Es was born on December 29, 1907, in Hospers, the daughter of Lambertus and Jennie (Van Meeteren) Oldenkamp. She was raised in Hospers. On December 28, 1926, she married Arie D. Roos at Hospers. They lived in Sioux County where she was a cook at the Sioux County Home for many years. He died on October 23, 1966, in Orange City. On December 27, 1968, she married John J. Van Es at Orange City. In 1984, they became residents of Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City. In March 1989, she transferred to Heritage House. He died on February 18, 1990, in Orange City.She was a member of First Reformed Church in Orange City
Survivors include six sons, Donald "Jack" Roos and his wife, Marge, of Greeley, Colorado, Glenn "Whltey" Roos and his wife, Shirley, of Primghar, Robert Roos and his wife, Minnie, of Sandston, Virginia, Audley Roos of San Diego, California, and Richard "Dick" Roos and his wife, Arlene, and Wallace Roos and his wife, Frilcia, all of Norwalk, California; 18 grandchildren;; 35 great-grandchiidren; a brother, Dick Oldenkamp, of Bellflower, California; a sister, Gertrude Van Oort, of Orange City; four stepsons; and two stepdaughters.
She was preceded in death by a great-grandson; a daughter-in-law; six brothers; and a sister.
