The Sioux City Jounal of January 19 gives and account of the death of John Culligan at St. Jospeh's hospital where he had undergone an operation for appendicitis. He formerly lived here and was highly esteemed by all his friends.

John Culligan born 2 Jan 1858 in Clayton Co. IA died 18 Feb 1902 Sioux City IA. His parents were Thomas Cullligan and Anna Syses. His wife was Mary M. M. courtney 1861-1928, Children were Anna 1891, Emmett 1893, John 1895 and Leo 1897. His parents were in Reading township in the 1880 census. In the 1900 census he and his family lived in Sioux City)
