Garrold, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Van Berkum, was born on February 6, 1919 at
Lester, Iowa. He attended school in rural Sioux Center and lived his youth in the Sioux Center, Steen and Lester areas. He was united in marriage with Alma J. Sneller of Lester on July 26, 1946, at Lester. Their married life was lived in the Larchwood and Sioux Center areas.
He is survived by his wife, Alma, two sons and two daughters, Patsy of Sioux Center,
Iowa; William (Bill) of Sioux Center, Iowa; Ivan of Sioux Center, Iowa; Susan (Mrs. Leonard De Groot) of Orange City, Iowa; six brothers, Alvin of Orange City, Iowa; Edwin of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, James, Wallace, Lawrence and Raymond all of Rock Valley, Iowa, and one sister, Mrs. Alice Prins of Orange City, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents
