Elvina Vander Vegte
Mrs. Elvina Vander Vegte, age 72, of Orange City, passed away suddenly Thursday, Nov. 23 at her residence.

Elvina Elvena was born July 15, 1917 at Sanborn.i the daughter of Henry Kempers and Jennie Geels Kempers. On June 30, 1937 she married Edward Vander Vegte at Sioux Center. Except for a short time at Hull, they have made their home in Orange City. Mr. Vander Vegte passed away June 25, 1982 at Rochester, Minn.

She was a member of the Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Orange City and faithfully attended meetings of the Christian Women's Club.

Survivors include her nine children, Joyce and her husband Walt De Blauw of Redlands, Calif., Don and his wife Arlene of Shawnee, Kan., Phyl and her husband Rod Van De Griend of Orange City, Stan and his wife Bonnie of Stillwater, Minn., Darlene and her husband Mel Obbink of Sioux City, Bob and his wife Jeri of Bloomington, Minn., Judy and her husband Leroy Schwarz of Alton, Elaine and her husband Arlyn Beltman of Granville, and Shirley of Garden Grove, Calif., 28 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two sisters, her twin, Mrs. Ed (Elvena) Den Beste of Sioux City and Mrs. Tony (Leona) Wiersma of Sioux Center.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her infant son, James and a brother, Kenneth Kempers. Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 27 at the Calvary Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Jack Gray officiating. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City, under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.
