MRS. ROCINA VAN GORP
Mrs. Rocina Van Gorp, 94, of Orange City, died Thursday in a nursing home in Sioux Center. Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the First Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Cecil Martens officiated. Burial was in the West Lawn Cemetery. Visitation was after 3 p.m. Friday with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home.Mrs. Van Gorp, the former Rocina De Boer, was born May 22, 1890, near Alton. She married James E. Van Gorp March 4, 1914, at Alton. They farmed in Ash Creek, Minn., Rock Rapids and Hull until 1948 when they retired to Orange City. He died Dec. 25, 1971, at Orange City. In 1975 she became a resident of the Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City. In 1982 she moved to the George Community Good Samaritan Center. Since July, 1984, she had resided in the nursing wing of the Sioux Center Community Hospital. Mrs. Van Gorp was a member of the First Reformed Church.
Survivors include four sons, Marvin of Hospers, Earl of Montevideo, Minn., Philip of Boyden and Albert of Sheldon; two daughters, Mrs. William H. (Lois) Kosters and Mrs. Don (Eunice) Vander Weide, both of Orange City; three sisters, Mrs. H.M. (Minnie) Scholten of Orange City, Mrs. Jake (Betha) Zwagerman of Hospers, and Mrs. Henry (Elvina) Kamminga of Newport, Ore.; one brother, Edward of Orange City; 23 granchildren; 40 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
