Survived by: Wife of 56 years, Dolores Mickelson of Harlan, IA; daughter, Mary (spouse, Clark) Ahrenholtz of Harlan, IA; one son, Danny Mickelson of Irwin, IA; grandchildren, Tabitha Ahrenholtz, Camilla Ahrenholtz, Casie (spouse, Toby) Muller, Kristopher (spouse, Amie) Mickelson, Andrea Mickelson, and Dani Dee Mickelson; great-grandchild, Dawson Muller; other relatives and friends

Military service: 1941 – 1946, U. S. Army, 1759th Combat Engineers

Marriage: Dolores Beatrice Wiig, Jan. 8, 1949, Lutheran parsonage in Irwin, IA

Employment: After his discharge from the army in 1946, Howard became a school bus driver and worked at Til McMahon’s Garage. After his marriage, the couple moved to his parents’ farm; they farmed there for 56 years.

Hobbies/Interests: Member, Irwin Church of Christ in Irwin, IA, served as a church elder for many years. He annually attended the Kiamichi Mountains Christian Men’s Meeting in OK. Howard restored a 1915 Case Steam Engine and built a half-scale Rumley Traction Engine, and, in 1976, started the Greenridge Steam and Gas Engine Antique Show at the Mickelson Farm.
