Died: Oct. 3, 2008, Crawford County Memorial Hospital, Denison, IA

Funeral services: Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008, Irwin Church of Christ; Irwin, IA; Pastor Ted Sieck officiated. Burial of ashes took place in Oak Hill Cemetery in Irwin, IA.

Survived by: Children, Thomas (spouse, Rebecca) Cross of South Beloit, IL, Randall Cross of Waterloo, IA, and Kathryn Morris of New Virginia, IA; sister, Beulah Lesher of Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; other relatives and friends

Predeceased by: Parents, Lawrence Hauman and Bernice Christina (nee Bubeck) Lesher; first husband, T.A. Cross (deceased Nov. 30, 1986); second husband, Delbert Will (deceased Jan. 15, 2001); brothers, Melvin Lesher and Orville Lesher.

Education: attended country school in Dayton Township (IA); graduated from Clarion (Iowa) High School, Class of 1943; in 1946, attended University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, IA, where she earned a teacher’s certificate

Marriages: (1) True Aldrian Cross, March 20, 1954, First United Methodist Church, Clarion, IA (2) Delbert E. Will, June 15, 1990, Irwin, IA

Employment: worked in the high school office for Mr. Christensen and in the Courthouse; she later went to Des Moines, IA, and worked for a cosmetic company; in 1945, she moved to Denver, CO. After relocating back to Iowa and her first marriage, she and her husband operated a crop and dairy farm business, south of Cedar Falls and Waterloo, IA. Gertrude was an integral part of the farm, working the small calf nursery and in dairy operations. Additionally, she worked seven years as a technical secretary for the Waterloo Probationary Court. After True’s death, she met and married Delbert Will; Delbert was a crop and livestock farmer; they eventually retired and traveled before moving to Irwin, IA.

Hobbies/Interests: active member, Irwin Church of Christ; member, Library Club; member, the American Legion Auxiliary; member, the Shelby County Garden Club; member, the Ladies Missionary Society.
