Little Helen ives is dead. the word flew over the community as on the wings of wind. wherever it touched it left sorror and the expressions of sympathy for the bereaved ones were many,.
Helen Naomi Ives was born in Knowlton Iowa, October 15, 1908, to Clarence and Pearl Ives. She departed this life Sunday March 28, at 6 years of age.
Only last Friday Helen was in school joyful and happy as ever. Serious illness was not in the least detected by anyone. However, her parents had gotten some medicine for her as they had noticed a little falling off in her appetite. Friday after school she complained of sickness. On Saturday Dr. Watson gave her his earnest and unrestrained attention and Sunday he made many calls at the home, scarecly leaving her bedside in the afternoon.
Dr. King of Blockton was called Sunday evening and both he and Dr. Watson continued to work against the fatal disease but no relief could be had.
Helen was one of the brightest little girls in her school and took a great interest in the school work. Up to the time of her death she had only missed one day. She attended Sunday school regularly and had learned by heart the Apostle's Creed and the 23rd Psalm.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church at Knowlton, with burial in the Knowlton Cemetery.
