OBITUARY - CLAIRE "BUD" GERMAN
March 1, 1930 ~ November 18, 2010

Claire "Bud" GERMAN, 80, of Baker City, Oregon, died November 13, 2010 at Saint Alphonsus Hospital-Baker City with family at his side.

A grave side service was held on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Mount Hope Cemetery in Baker City.

Bud was born on March 1, 1930, at Lamoni, Iowa to Cleo and Lorraine POTTROFF GERMAN. He spent his early years on a farm south of Mount Ayr, Iowa and moved to New Plymouth, Idaho, with his family in 1945. He finished his education there and moved back to Iowa.

He was called to service in Korea with the U.S. Army in 1951. When he returned from Korea in 1953 he moved to Baker City, Oregon to live with his sister and family.

Bud started working for Baker Sanitary Service and remained there until he retired. He also worked part-time for Roy and Owens Tire Shop.

Bud married the love of his life, Myrna SIPP, on December 29, 1955. She died on November 18, 2005.

Bud was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was well-known and liked. He was known as a jokester and always had a smile on his face. He spent many years on a bowling team and made many friends there. He was also a former member of the Baker Elks Lodge.

Survivors include a sister, Wanda JONES of Haines; a niece, Deborah REIFSCHNEIDER of Sacramento, California; nephews, Michael JONES of Ontario, Jeffrey JONES of Portland, Craig SIPP of Union and Brian SIPP of Baker City; a brother-in-law, Clayton SIPP of Baker City; numerous cousins including, Olive DAVIS, Mickey DRAKE, Lila OVERHOLTZER and Betty DAVENPORT, all of Mount Ayr and Lou CHURCH of Missouri, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two nephews and his brother-in-law.
