OBITUARY - HAZEL GIBSON, Mount Ayr

Hazel GIBSON, 89, of Mount Ayr, died Dec. 17, 2010, at Mount Ayr Health Care Center.

Arrangements are pending at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr.

OBITUARY - HAZEL GIBSON
April 26, 1921 ~ December 17, 2010

Per Hazel's wishes, her body was cremated and there are no local services planned. She will be buried next to her husband in Fulton, Missouri in the spring of 2011.

A memorial fund has been established in her name to be decided later. Those memorials may be sent to the funeral home to be forwarded on to the family.

OBITUARY - HAZEL MAE (COLLIER) MOTT GIBSON
April 26, 1921 ~ December 17, 2010

Hazel Mae (COLLIER) GIBSON was born the oldest of five children to Lela Maude (ALLENSWORTH) COLLIER and Roy Emery COLLIER on April 26, 1921 in White Clough Twp., Mills County, Strahn, Iowa. She graduated from Farragut High School in 1939 and married Ray MOTT. To this union one child, Roy Stuart MOTT, was born. Later divorced, she married Lloyd Loyn GIBSON from Mount Ayr, IA in 1940 and they moved to Fulton, Missouri where Hazel was employed as a factory worker at Brown Shoe Company. Lloyd and Hazel enjoyed each other's company, dancing to country music, and their team of horses as they participated in parades and trail rides.

Lloyd passed away June 5, 1971.

The factory moved to Charleston, IL and they asked Hazel to move too. After retiring, Hazel was a nanny for many years in Chicago, then returned to Charleston where she was very active in the Champaign Church of Christ with her friends and neighbors.

In 1998 she moved to rural Diagonal, Iowa to be close to her sister, Maxine SCHAEFER. "The Sisters" were inseparable and enjoyed every outing together even if it was a trip to the Doctor.

Hazel excelled at almost any type of handy work and shared patterns and ideas with her sisters throughout their lives too. Hazel was a member of First Christian Church in Mount Ayr. She was a resident at Maple Ridge Assisted Living for a year before moving to the Mount Ayr Health Care Center in October and passed away Friday, December 17th, 2010 at the age of 89.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, grandson, Eric MOTT, brothers: Wayne "Bud" COLLIER and Gary COLLIER, sister, Maxine SCHAEFER, sister-in-law, Alberta COLLIER, brother-in-law, Francis MAIN and nephew, David MAIN.

Survivors include, daughter-in-law Judy MOTT, grandson Jason (Terisha) MOTT, great-grandsons; Garrett MOTT & Bronson MOTT, great-granddaughter; Regan MOTT, step-daughters; Lois MENDEZ and Inez GUNSOLUIS and families, sister Doretta "Toots" MAIN, brother-in-law Lowell SCHAEFER, sister-in-law Sara "Cookie" COLLIER, nieces: Denise BOUDREAU, Gwendolyn Kay (Don) JANDREAU, Shelly (David) BOLLES, and Michelle COLLIER BREENER, nephews: Carl (Yvonne) SCHAEFER, Jerry (Susan) SCHAEFER, Kenneth (Cathy) SCHAEFER, Michael (Karen) SCHAEFER, Scott (Darla) COLLIER, Michael (Jennifer) COLLIER, Mark (Elisa) COLLIER, Jeff COLLIER, Douglas COLLIER, numerous great-nieces & great-nephews, great-great-nieces & great-great-nephews and a host of relatives and friends.

Hazel was cremated after a private service and her remains will be carried to Fulton, Missouri to be buried at a later date. She made friends wherever she went and will be sadly missed.
