OBITUARY - OPAL PEARL (REYNOLDS) FERBER
October 11, 1913 ~ December 21, 2010Opal Pearl FERBER, daughter of Jonathan L. and Minnie C. (HIGGINS) REYNOLDS was born in Ringgold County, Iowa October 11, 1913 and departed this life December 21, 2010 at Southern Hills Care Center in Osceola, at the age of 97 years.
Opal was united in marriage to Floyd E. FERBER January 6, 1935 at Mount Ayr, Iowa. To this union four children were born, Joyce, Royce, Sue and Nancy.
She attended school at Delphos and Redding, Iowa graduating in 1931 from Redding High. She joined the Christian Church at Delphos and transferred her membership to the Christian Church at Osceola after the family moved there in 1946. Opal was a 60-year member of the Ophir Chapter of the Eastern Star. She was a nurse's aide at Clarke County Hospital for 30 years when she retired. She enjoyed working in her yard, reading, doing handwork, spending time with her family and taking occasional bus trips with friends.
Opal is survived by two daughters and spouses, Sue (Steve) CAVIN of Aberdeen, WA, Nancy (Mance) WRIGHT of Mountain Home, AR, a son-in-law Albert HILDRETH of Osceola, IA, 11 grandchildren, Dennis (Joy) HILDRETH, Dale HILDRETH, Dean (Marti) HILDRETH, Debbie (John) SULLIVAN of Osceola, IA, Tara FERBER, Ashley FERBER of Ankeny, IA, Darby (Sara) CAVIN of Cosmopolis, WA, Colby (Erin) CAVIN of Olympia, WA, Michelle (Ken) GIFFIN of Pevely, MO, Denise (Dan) COOK of Pacific, MO, Heather WRIGHT of Mountan Home, AR, a granddaughter-in-law Meko MARTIN of Ankeny, and 21 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren, and many friends and relatives.
She was preceded in death by husband Floyd in 1955, son Royce in 1999, grandson Rick in 2000, daughter Joyce in 2007, a daughter-in-law Diane FERBER in 2009, great-great-granddaughter Rylee in 2010, and her 5 bothers and spouses, Merle (Gladys), Lloyd (Lela), Doyle (Arlene), Virgil (Waitstill) and John (Dorothy), 2 sisters-in-law and spouses Mary (Warren) Drake and Ruth (John) SHEIL.
Services were held Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola. Interment was made at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Iowa. Memorial donations may be directed to First Christian Church or Eastern Star. Kale Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
