DEATH of THOMAS CONLEY OCCURRED LAST FRIDAY EVE.

Passed Away at Home in Knowlton After Illness of Several Months.

Thomas CONLEY of Knowlton died about 5:30 Friday evening at his home, after an illness of several months. The serious nature of his illness had been known to relatives and friends who had known for some time that there were no hopes for his recovery.

Destined to perform the lesser duties of an earthly existence, Mr. CONLEY was conscientious in the performance of his duties until illness and suffering made work impossible for him. He took great pleasure in associating with his friends, who likewise found in him a cheerful and sympathetic nature.

He will be sorely missed by his wife and children, and by others in the community. The following obituary was read at the funeral services, which were held in the Methodist church Sunday afternoon, Rev. A. L. JORDAN presiding:

Mr. CONLEY was the last member of a family of five children.

Interment was made in the Knowlton [Centenary] cemetery.

I know not what the future hath,
Of marvel or surprise,
Assured alone that life and death
His mercy underlies.
And so beside the silent sea I wait the muffled oar,
No harm from Him can come to me,
On ocean or on shore.
