MRS. DOVE McCORMICK, 88,
DIES SATURDAY IN CANON CITY HOSPITAL

Mrs. Dove McCORMICK, resident of Canon City since 1938, who lived at 712 Harrison Ave., died in a local hospital Saturday, 5:30 a.m., after a lingering illness. She had been in failing health for one year, becoming serious the past three weeks. She was 88.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday in Chapel of the Garden, the Rev. Gilbert Moore officiating. Interment will be in Lakeside cemetery [Canon City] with arrangements being handled by Holt-Wilson Funeral Directors.

Mrs. McCORMICK was born Aug. 17 1875 in Ringold City. Iowa. She was married to Samuel James McCORMICK on March 3, 1897 in Mount Ayr, Iowa. He died Aug. 21, 1942.

The couple came to Colorado in 1918 from Coffeyville, Kans., and to Canon City on Jan. 7, 1938 from Holly Colo.

Mrs. McCORMICK was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Queen Esther Class of the church, and the Gold Star Mothers’ Club.

Survivors include four sons, C. James McCORMICK, Canon City; Millard Thomas McCORMICK, San Antonio, Tex.; Maynard Charles McCORMICK, Holly, Colo.; Wayne Franklin McCORMICK, Long Beach, Calif. and four daughters, Mrs. Fern GOSSETT. Cortez, Colo.; Mrs. Emma TILLINGHAST, Canton, O.; Mrs. Dove STAFFORD, Pueblo, Colo.; Mrs. Jennie WOODALL, Dodge City, Kan.

Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward PITTMAN of Canon City, and two sisters, Mrs. Bell WHITEHEAD, Hiwasa, Ark., and Mrs. Bissie McCHANEY, Kellerton, Ia., also survive.

Two sons and one daughter preceded her in death.
