OBITUARY

Mary Catherine JARVIS, daughter of Joel Alexander JARVIS and Eliza B. PARKINSON was born in Perry County, Ohio in 1851. Mr. Samuel PHILLIPS was united in marriage to Mary Catherine JARVIS January 22, 1866. To this union was born nine children; five sons, four daughters, one son and one daughter has passed on before and seven still survive, which are all present in these sad hours with the grief stricken father.

Mrs. PHILLIPS has been an active christian worker since her girlhood days and when Grandma PHILLIPS as she was commonly called, is spoken of it sends thrills of christian enjoyment through the heart, as her only aim was to serve the master and scatter deeds of kindness, which is so comforting to the grief stricken husband and children.

Mary Catherine (JARVIS) PHILLIPS died on July 30, 1924, Okeen, Oklahoma, with interment at Collins Cemetery, Blaine County, Oklahoma. Mary Catherine married Samuel PHILLIPS (1847-1931) on January 22, 1867 in Hocking County, Ohio. Mary Catherine and Samuel (a Civil War Veteran of Company K, 2nd Ohio Heavy Artillery, move to Ringgold County, residing there until the moved to a farm five miles east of Okeene, Oklahoma, in 1892. Mary's parents Joel Alexander and Eliza B. (PARKINSON) JARVIS were residents of Ringgold County, Iowa.
