OBITUARY - MRS. LOTTIE LONG

Mrs. Lottie LONG, daughter of Charles and Emma Cross RIDDLE, was born at Clintonville, Pa., December 13, 1873 and departed this life August 19, 1952 at the age of 78 years.

In 1900, she came to this area to visit relatives and friends and chose this locality for her permanent home. Here she met and on October 10, 1900 she was united in marriage to Nathaniel Braden LONG. Her husband preceded her in death November 15, 1945.

To this union were born five sons and one daughter [Lottie] who died in infancy. One son, Jonathan, passed away in 1940. She is survived by four sons, Jay LONG, of Portland, Oregon, Allen and Clarence LONG of Shannon City and Willard of Afton. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren and three sisters: Mrs. Bertha HOVIS, of Mantus, Ohio, Mrs. Hattie ANDERSON and Mrs. Ruth DUFFORD of Franklin, PA.

For 52 years, Mrs. LONG has been a loyal member of the Shannon City United Presbyterian Church, most faithful in her attendance at all of its services, and active in all its work. Her greatest wish in her last days was to be able to come again, and on the Sabbath Day worship once more in the church she had so faithfully attended through the years. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery in Shannon City [Ringgold County, Iowa].

NOTE: Nathaniel Braden LONG was born September 25, 1869, and died November 15, 1945. He was interred at Oakland Cemetery near Shannon City, Ringgold County, Iowa. Jonathan M. LONG, son of Nathaniel and Lottie, was born in 1903, and died in 1940, with interment at Oakland Cemetery. Lottie, infant daughter of Nathaniel and Lottie LONG, died on December 20, 1915. Her gravestone in Oakland Cemetery is inscribed "Buried on Home Farm."

S. Allen LONG was born in 1905, and died in 1999. Allen's wife Bernice was born in 1917, and died in 1997. They were interred at Oakland Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa.

Willard C. LONG was born June 12, 1908, and died October 25, 1983. His wife Grace O. was born December 11, 1908, and died September 17, 1996. They were interred at Oakland Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa. Willard and Grace's gravestone is inscribed, "Parents of Howard and Susan."

Clarence D. LONG was born in 1910, and died in 1985. His wife Vonda L. was born in 1922. They were interred at Oakland Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa.
