OBITUARY - N. B. LONG

N[athaniel]. B[raden]. LONG, 76, died at 5:30 Thursday afternoon, November 15, 1945 at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa, following an illness of three weeks.

Mr. LONG was born September 25, 1869, at Cambridge, Ohio, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John and Rachel LONG. He was married October 10, 1900, to Lottie RIDDLE in Shannon City. When 10 years of age, he came with his parents and settled on a farm 4 miles northwest of Shannon City.

Following his marriage he moved to a farm 4 1/2 miles west of town, and in 1914 moved to the present farm three miles northwest of town. He was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church in Shannon City.

Surviving are his wife, four sons, Jay of Pocatello, Idaho; Willard of Reynolds, Ill., and Allen and Clarence of Shannon City; two brothers, Charles of Brush, Colo., and Frank of Nebraksa; three sisters, Mrs. Sadie WHITE of Afton; Mrs. Lizzie FERGUSON of Ft. Morgan, Colo.; Mrs. Alice OLIPHANT of Briggsdale, Colo.; and a half sister, Mrs. Dora EDWARDS of Marshalltown, Iowa; & eight grandchildren. One son, John, died July 24, 1940.

Funeral services were held at two o'clock Sunday in the United Presbyterian Church in Shannon City, with the Rev. H. W. WRIGHT officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery in Shannon City [Ringgold County, Iowa].

NOTE: Lottie (RIDDLE) LONG was born December 13, 1874, and died August 19, 1952. She was interred beside her husband Nathaniel at Oakland Cemetery near Shannon City, Ringgold County, Iowa. Jonathan M. LONG, son of Nathaniel and Lottie, was born in 1903, and died in 1940, with interment at Oakland Cemetery. Lottie, infant daughter of Nathaniel and Lottie LONG, died on December 20, 1915. Her gravestone in Oakland Cemetery is inscribed "Buried on Home Farm."

S. Allen LONG was born in 1905, and died in 1999. Allen's wife Bernice was born in 1917, and died in 1997. They were interred at Oakland Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa.

Willard C. LONG was born June 12, 1908, and died October 25, 1983. His wife Grace O. was born December 11, 1908, and died September 17, 1996. They were interred at Oakland Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa. Willard and Grace's gravestone is inscribed, "Parents of Howard and Susan."

Clarence D. LONG was born in 1910, and died in 1985. His wife Vonda L. was born in 1922. They were interred at Oakland Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa.
