OBITUARY - Mrs. SARAH FITTRO

Sarah BURKETT was born in Putman Co. Indiana, October 6, 1838, and died at her home in Cedar Vale, Kansas, March 31, 1915, aged 76 years, 5 months and 25 days.

She was united in marriage, to Andrew J. McCARTNEY in Decatur Co., Iowa, December 16, 1865. To thia, union five, children: were born, three sons and two daughters, Joseph E. of Herrington, N. M. being the only one to survive her. Mr. McCARTNEY died in March, 1864. She was united in marriage to S. W. FITTRO in Decatur Co., Iowa, March 25, 1866. To this union six children were born; three of whom survive her, Chester B., Charley W. and Earnest W., besides the husband and children mentioned, she leaves one brother, R. F. BURKETT and one half-brother, Elija COLE.

She united with the M. E. church In 1882. She came to Cedar Vale in January, 1910 and has lived here since.

The funeral service was conducted by Rev. KRAMER at the home and the remains laid to rest in the local [Cedar Vale] cemetery.
