OBITUARY - SAMUEL W. FITTRO

Samuel W. FITTRO was born in Licken (sic) County, Ohio, April 3, 1830. He moved with his parents to Louisiana (sic) County, Iowa, at which place he was united in marriage to Elizabeth IRELAND in 1851, at which time he moved to Decatur County [Iowa]. To this union were born eight children, four sons and four daughters, of whom four are now living. They are John, Mrs. Julla A. BRYOR (sic, should be Julia PRYOR, Mrs. Joseph BRILEY of Skiatook and Mrs. Alice JACKSON. His wife died March 19, 1864.

He was again united in marriage to Mrs. Sarah McCARTNEY of Garden Grove, Iowa, March 25, 1866. To this union six children were born, four sons and two daughters, of whom four sons still survive him: Chester B. Charles W. and Earnest W. all of Cedar Vale [Kansas].

He united with the M. E. church in Kellerton, Iowa, in the year 1880. He moved with his family to Kansas in 1909, which has been his home continuously since. His wife died March 31, 1915, and he soon followed her, passing away November 12. 1915 aged 85 years, 7 months and 9 days.

The funeral services were held at the M. E. church November 13, 1915, Rev. KRAMER officiating, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Cedar Vale cemetery.
