OBITUARY - ILA KATHLEEN "KAY" THUMMEL

Ila "Kay" THUMMEL, 54, Lawson, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2001, at North Kansas City Hospital with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services were held Friday, February 16, 2001, at 10:00 a.m. at the Old Union Church in Lawson, MO. Burial was at the Old Union Cemetery, Lawson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made at the Lawson Bank for the Kay THUMMEL Memorial Fund.

Kay was born March 9, 1946, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Henry and Barbara SEIFFERT. She grew up in the Blockton and Bedford, Iowa, area, graduating in May 1964 from Bedford Community High School.

In May 1964, she married Steve THUMMEL in Redding, To this union, two children, Jennifer Jacqueline and Jason Von were born. Kay moved to Lawson, MO, with her family in 1977. She has been employed by the Lawson Rural Water District for the past 15 years.

Kay was an avid sports fan who enjoyed all sports. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandson, Dylan Timothy.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Steve, of 36 years, of the home. Other survivors include her son, Jason THUMMEL of Kearney, MO; her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Tim MORRIS of Excelsior Springs, MO; her grandson, Dylan MORRIS; her brother, Tom SEIFFERT and her aunt, Kathleen FREED of Redding, IA; her stepfather-in-law, R. Jay NASH of Camanche, IA; sister-in-law, Margie STILLWAGON, West Palm Beach, FL; and a host of many friends and relatives.

Kay was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but will live on in our hearts forever.
