OBITUARY - MRS. F. M. THURMAN.

Mary McCALLA, daughter of James and Anna McCALLA, was born October 22, 1851, in Philadelphia, Penn., and passed away at her son's home near Beaconsfield, Iowa, June 30, 1925, age 73 years, 8 months and days (sic).

She came to Iowa with her parents in 1857 who settled on a farm near Clarinda where she grew to womanhood. She was engaged in teaching school for three years. She was married to Francis Marion THURMAN December 27, 1876. To this union were born eleven children, Annie POOR of Maloy, James of Hatfield, Mo., Nancy KING of Hutchison, Kan., Albert of Shenandoah, Rosa WILLHOUSE of Lamor, Calif., David of Grand River, Frank and Jess with whom she has been making her home near Beaconsfield, and three children that died in infancy. The husband preceded her in death September 15, 1921.

She united with the Reform Presbyterian church when quite young and has lived a consecrated christian life.

She leaves to morn (sic) her loss besides the five sons and three daughters, one sister, Jane COX of Blockton, and two brothers, James McCALLA of Clarinda and S. G. McCALLA of Blockton, forty-one grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral was conducted from the Church of Christ at Blockton by the pastor of the church and her body was laid to rest beside her husband in the Blockton cemetery.

NOTE: Mary's husband Francis Marion THURMAN was born in 1855, and died on September 15, 1921.
