IRA ALLEN THORLA RITES WEDNESDAY

Funeral services for Ira Allen THORLA, Sr., 83, who made his home in Port Acres with his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Howard [Mildred M. (INGLES)] THORLA of 3148 59th street, will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Levingston Funeral Home chapel.

Mr. THORLA died Monday [November 25, 1968] at 1 p.m. of a sudden illness at the 59th street address where he had lived since September, moving here from Louisiana.

Officiating will be the Rev. W. B. CARRAWAY, pastor of the Trinity Baptist church of Port Arthur. Burial will be in Oak Bluff Memorial park in Port Neches.

Mr. THORLA, a former lumber company employee in Louisiana, was a native of Mount Ayers (sic), Iowa. He was a member of the Baptist faith. His son, Howard THORLA, preceded him in death.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Mildred [THORLA] LaCROIX of Alvin and Mrs. Edith [THORLA] DOUGHTY of Trout, La.; two sons, Tom THORLA of Trout and Ira THORLA, Jr., of Arlington, Tex.; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie [Bessie Irene THORLA] HANEY, Mrs. Eloise [Emma Eloise THORLA] WALLIS and Mrs. Olla [Meribah Viola THORLA] PROVIDENCE, all of Odessa; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Ira Allen THORLA, son of Amos Hughes THORLA (1859-1954) & Mary Elizabeth (McBRIDE) THORLA (1862-1934), was born January 27, 1882, Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa. He married in Sabine Parish, LA on January 18, 1908 to Lula May GOSS (1891-1932). Their son Howard Claywilder THORLA was born Febuary 16, 1909, and died June 5, 1968, Jefferson, Texas. Mildred M. (INGLES) THORLA was born August 15, 1917, and died May 20, 2004, Port Arthur, Texas.
