OBITUARY - DELITTE THOMPSON.

Delitte THOMPSON, eldest son of S. L. and Laura THOMPSON, was born in Liberty township November 25, 1888, and passed away at this home in east Mount Ayr May 23, 1924, at the age of 35 years, 5 months and 28 days. He had been in poor health for six years. Five years ago he underwent a severe operation. For a time he seemed better but was never strong. He went about his daily work without complaints, was always cheerful. In February his health failed and he was compelled to give up his work, and the last week he was confined to his bed. Though suffering severely at times he was patient, trying not to cause any extra work, thinking more of his companion and family than of himself.

On October 2, 1912, he was united in marraige to Miss Elva ATWOOD. To this union six children were born, Alvan Delitte, Laura Lucile, Joseph Hubert, Hilda Arlene, who passed away in infancy, Eleanor Marie and Phylis Leora. In 1913 he united with the M. E. church at High Point where he still retains his membership. Though he seldom attended church the condition of his health making it impossible to remain through services, he would often spend his Sabbaths in the woods in God's great temple, among the trees, for he was a greater lover of nature than most people.

Before his marriage he served an enlistment in the U.S. standing army.

Besides his sorrowing wife and children he leaves to mourn his early departure his aged father and step-mother, two sisters, Mrs. Grace [illegible] and Muriel, three brothers, Newell and Wilford, of Mitchell, S.D., and Kenneth and many other relatives and friends. One sister, Mrs. Lois WOOD, passed away two years ago. He will be greatly missed in the home and among his friends for he had many. He talked with his family as being willing and ready to go. He is at rest and with his loved ones who have gone before.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the M. E. church, conducted by Rev. KIRKENDAHL and interment was in Rose Hill cemetery [Mount Ayr].
