OBITUARY - ADALINE FRANCIS (GRINDSTAFF) THOMPSON

Adaline Francis GRINDSTAFF, daughter of Jacob and Rebecca GRINDSTAFF, was born in Worth County near Grant City, Mo., September 12, 1847, and passed away at her home near Allendale on November 27, 1937 at the age of 90 years, 2 months and 15 days.

On June 14, 1869, she was married to Benedict Joseph THOMPSON. To this union eleven children were born: Mrs. Callie LONG, Mrs. Fanny WILSON, A. L. THOMPSON and Texas THOMPSON, all of Allendale, Mo.; Mrs. Jewell WELLS, Mrs. Margaret PARKHURST and Melvin THOMPSON of Redding, Ia.; Mrs. Eunice KING of Lamoni, Ia.; Alex THOMPSON of Dallas, Texas; and two children dying in infancy. She leaves to mourn their loss, 9 children, a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

When she was 14 years of age she united with the Christian church. her husband preceded her in death on April 10, 1926. She was a loving wife, mother and neighbor. A mother is gone but her life has left its imprint, and her memory will be a cherished and hallowed one.

Funeral services ere held from the home on Monday, November 29, at 2 o'clock by Rev.Jesse CUNNINGHAM. Burial was in the Kirk cemetery [Allendale, MO].
